Science & FAQ

What the research says about red and near-infrared light — and answers to the questions we hear most about ElysianPod.

Science

Red and near-infrared light have been studied in skin and recovery research for decades. Light in these ranges interacts with cells in ways researchers continue to map; the strongest published human work has examined skin appearance, joint and muscle comfort, and hair density, with growing work on recovery and early signals for sleep and well-being.

Those studies used a range of research devices and protocols — not the ElysianPod.

ElysianPod is built with FDA-registered Class II panels that are also ETL-tested. Sessions are 10 minutes full-body. FDA registration and ETL testing apply to the panels. The ElysianPod enclosure is designed and built by Elysian Wellness.

How light is described in research

Blue (480 nm) acts nearer the surface. Red (630–660 nm) reaches just below. Near-infrared (810–1060 nm) travels deeper into tissue. These are panel wavelength specs; FDA registration and ETL testing apply to the panels. The ElysianPod enclosure is designed and built by Elysian Wellness.

Using light well

Protect your eyes: keep them closed or wear the provided eyewear; never stare into the panels.

Keep it consistent: studies use regular sessions over weeks. Longer is not better.

Time it right: morning or daytime sessions, especially when blue light is on.

Check first: ask a doctor if pregnant, light-sensitive, or on medication that increases sun sensitivity.

FAQ

What is the ElysianPod?

A full-body red and near-infrared light bed, built like furniture from Baltic Birch with a Rubio Monocoat finish. Light reaches you from six directions at once: top, bottom, both sides, and both ends.

How long is a session?

10 minutes. Because light covers the whole body at once, there is no repositioning during a session.

What happens during a session?

You lie down, close the lid by hand, and relax with your eyes closed or the provided eyewear on. There is no motor and nothing to adjust mid-session.

How often should someone use it?

Studies of red and near-infrared light typically use regular sessions over several weeks. Consistency matters more than making sessions longer.

Who is it for?

Spas, clinics, gyms, and homes with a wellness suite.

What light system does it use?

Built with 14 PlatinumLED BIOMAX PRO panels (FDA-registered Class II, ETL-tested panels): 8 large panels above and below, 4 along the sides, and 1 at each end. FDA registration and ETL testing apply to the panels. The ElysianPod enclosure is designed and built by Elysian Wellness.

Which wavelengths do the panels use?

Seven panel wavelengths: 480 nm (blue), 630 and 660 nm (red), and 810, 830, 850, and 1060 nm (near-infrared). Each wavelength can be adjusted in the app. FDA registration and ETL testing apply to the panels. The ElysianPod enclosure is designed and built by Elysian Wellness.

Is the ElysianPod FDA-approved?

No. ElysianPod is built with FDA-registered Class II panels. FDA registration and ETL testing apply to the panels. The ElysianPod enclosure is designed and built by Elysian Wellness.

Has the ElysianPod been clinically tested?

Not yet. Independent light-output testing is being arranged.

What does the research say about red and near-infrared light?

Red and near-infrared light have been studied in skin and recovery research across thousands of papers. Human studies and reviews have examined skin appearance, joint and muscle comfort, hair density, muscle recovery, and sleep. Those studies used research devices, not the ElysianPod. Full citations are in the ElysianPod Science Brief.

Can the ElysianPod treat a medical condition?

No. The ElysianPod is a wellness device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Talk to your doctor about any medical condition.

Is it safe for my eyes?

Keep your eyes closed or wear the provided eyewear for the whole session, and never stare into the panels. Near-infrared light is invisible, so your eyes will not squint on their own.

Who should check with a doctor first?

Anyone who is pregnant, sensitive to light, or taking medication that increases sun sensitivity.

When is the best time of day for a session?

Morning or daytime. Bright blue light can suppress melatonin at night.

Does it need an electrician?

Yes, for the dedicated circuit. Confirm requirements with a licensed electrician.

Is delivery included?

Delivery and install are free in our local area. Outside it, we quote by destination.

How do I reserve one?

A $250 online deposit holds your build slot for 14 days. It is fully refundable until the build deposit and is credited toward it.

What's included?

The Pod, install, an orientation, and a basic cleaning kit. The ElysianBreeze cooldown fan and EcoFlow battery are optional add-ons.

What's the warranty?

3 years on everything.

Is there a return policy?

Yes. You can return the ElysianPod within 30 days of the install date if it is in good condition. The buyer pays return shipping, and a $500 restocking fee applies.
